The Saffron Surge

The recently held assembly elections for the five states was considered a great test for the ruling BJP led NDA government at the centre. There had been a systematic attack on the central government from various sides of the political spectrum and the Left-leaning media over the issues of CAA, Farm Bills, Covid 19 and the alleged mob attacks in Western Uttar Pradesh. With so much stakes on its side, the BJP faced the elections with the meticulously planned strategies of both Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri. Amit Shah. The political ground was heated up with the multi-pronged attacks of the opposition parties.
As expected BJP won four out five contested states. It was a landslide victory for UP’s Yogi Adityanathji as he was battling a five year anti-incumbency. The victory, despite the fact that the state had not rewarded the incumbent governments a second term for the last three decades, is a phenomenal achievement. Though the number of seats have been reduced, the BJP has bettered its previous vote percentage in a state which is considered to be the fulcrum of India’s politics.
In the states of Uttaralhand, Manipur and Goa too the incumbent BJP governments bettered their previous election tallies. The incumbent Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand have lost their respective seats. But that has not overshadowed the glorious victory of the BJP in those states. In Punjab, where the BJP has no significant presence, the AAP has won a landslide victory eclipsing the incumbent Congress which was mired in controversies.
The victory of the BJP in the four states is a good omen for a state like Tamilnadu which has often been referred as a dravidian stock with sessionistic, anti-Indian agenda. The party fared well in the recently held Tamilnadu local body elections by securing the third spot on the basis of vote percentage. The Tamils with a nationalistic fervour will certainly look at the party with a positive note and will come forward to vote in the party to power in the future. The implementation of the central government schemes in the state is vital for the development of the poor  people and their lives. The centrally-sponsored schemes have already been hijacked by the present ruling dispensation by pasting its names. The popular narrative is being set as anti-BJP in all the Tamil media that the laymen think negatively of the Modi government. At a time when the whole world realises the the importance of strong BJP government at the centre, it would be of great value for the people of Tamilnadu if they realised the good will of the Modi government. Let us hope that the local BJP under the able leadership of young and energetic Shri. Annamalai will strive hard to realise that dream.
