Importance of nature
In Thirukkural
The very second chapter(Adhikaram) speaks about nature and importance of rain for the sustaining of wordly life.
“vin inru poyppin virineer ulgathu
Ulninru udatrum pasi”(Van sirappu adhikaram )
Meaning: If it does not rain, entire world will be hit by hunger.
“Neer indru amaiyadhu ulagu enin yaryarkkum
Van inru amaiyadhu ozhukku”
Meaning: If there is no water,The world is even can not be imagined, If rain fails, the world system will entirely collapse.(Van sirappu adhikaram)
In Hindu texts
“Apo vai beshajam”, “Vayo vai beshajam” (Meaning:Water is medicine,Air itself medicine)
“Nava masa dhirutham Garbam Baskarasya Gabashtipigi PeethVa rasam Samdhranam Dhyou Prasoothe Rasayanam”(Ramaynam :Kishkindha Kandam)
Meaning: Like wife getting essence from Husband the sky getting essence from Sea and getting pregnant for nine months and deliver the rain (like child)
In this sloka water cycle and rain explained by comparing with child’s birth.
Both Thirukkural and Hindu texts explains the importance of nature for livelihood.

*About Vedas *
“Niraimohi mandhar Perumai perumai nilathu
Marai mozhri kattividum” (Adhikaram: Neethar perumai, 8 Kuratpa)
*Meaning*
The glory of Fulfilled texts uttered by Great people is shown by the Vedas
In Thirukkural ,This Kuratpa tells the Glory of Veda. In general, The word “MARAI” is used in Tamil literature to mention about VEDA. Thiruvalluvar tells about the greatness of Vedas by telling them as Fulfilled words or Texts.
In Tholkappiyam also Veda is mentioned as Marai.
“Niraimozhi Mandhar anaiyirkilarndha Maraimozhi dhane Mandiram Enba”
Here also the same words “Niraimozhi” and “Maraimozhi” used. “Mandhiram” means Veda Mantras.
From these,It is clear that The word “Marai” means “Veda”
