Once Vivekananda had visited London. There he stayed at a friend’s farm house surrounded by nature. A lot of cows were reared there.
One evening Vivekananda was walking in the grounds. A friend and his wife were walking along with him.
Then unexpectedly a cow came running towards them. The friend’s wife fainted in fear after seeing the atrocity. A friend tried to mourn his wife but could not. As the cow approached them, the friend ran away fearing that the cow would stab him. But Vivekananda remained steadfast and resolute.
The friend’s wife, who was unconscious, Vivekananda standing near her and the cow started following towards the friend who ran away. The friend who ran for life luckily entered a building to take cover. Some of the farm workers who followed the cow caught it and tied it up. After that Vivekananda moved from there.
The friend was surprised to know this. Meanwhile, the friend’s wife wakes up from fainting. “How were you able to stand firm and fearless in times of danger?” asked the friend.
Vivekananda smiled and said, “I didn’t do anything different. Let what comes come; I stood here with the determination to stand. It is the nature of animals to chase a runner when they see one. That’s why the cow left me and chased after you who ran away. The friend was amazed at Vivekananda’s bravery.
‘Don’t give up even if you are dying! You were born to achieve! Be brave!
Vivekananda advised others to ‘conquer anything’ and practiced it in his own life.
