32 feet tall Fig Ganesha: Made by Nagai Devotees

Nagapattinam–For the first time in the country, a 32-feet tall Ganesha idol has been made from a fig tree in Nagai. Every year in Nagai, a 32-feet tall Vishvarupa Ganesha idol is held on the streets of Nagai on the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the initiation of the Vinayagar procession, it was decided to make an idol of Vinayagar in the form of a fig tree.

According to this, on behalf of Vishvarupa Vinayagar group, a Vinayagar idol has been made in a fig tree at a cost of 1 crore rupees. A team of 15 people, headed by Thirunavukarasu Stapathi from Andipanthal, Tiruvarur district, has worked for eight months to make this idol. In total, the Ganesha idol is 32 feet tall and 18 feet wide, and is made of fig wood weighing 16 tons. The statue was paraded for public viewing yesterday. A large number of devotees took part in the Vellotam, which started from the gate of Neelayadakshi Amman temple in Nagai and crawled through four streets.
