The Madras High Court has stated that it is the duty of the government to protect water bodies and said that encroachment is unlikely to happen without the knowledge of the authorities.
The Madras High Court, hearing a case related to the action of the district administration to remove encroachments on water bodies in Tiruvallur district, said: It is the duty of the government to protect water bodies.
There is no possibility of encroachment without the authority’s knowledge. If we protect nature, nature will protect us. It said that nature will affect us through calamities like earthquakes and tsunamis if we continue to suffer.
