“Meindum Manjapai Express Train” with Chennai-special coaches will be launched in December at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
A project titled ‘Meindum Manjapai Express Train Fair’ in collaboration with Indian Railway Food and Tourism Corporation, IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Railways, is being implemented with the funds of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. A total of 18 special coaches at a cost of Rs 9 crore are under construction for the ‘Meindum Manjapai Express’ exhibition train.
In this regard, Pollution Control Board officials said: Through the ‘Meindum Manjapai’ express train exhibition, awareness will be created among everyone about environmental protection and avoiding the use of plastic. The train will be operated by IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Railways.
