People in Tamilnadu mums their words on seeing the activities of the DMK as they know very well that revealing the disappointments on the ruling power will make them as air headed because that revelation won’t help them as their choice is situationally wrong.
Recently the chief Minister Mr. MK Stalin stated that whenever the DMK comes to power, it faces plenty of challenges. In reality people of Tamilnadu faces many challenges in their rule.
Let me site an example from the present scenario of Tamilnadu.Due to the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, Chennai received rain. Chennai has been reeling from three days of rain. There is no use in pouring crores of money every year on building rainwater canals, dredging lakes and repairing water channels. Not only slums, but even flats are flooded.
Even today we have the same infrastructure that existed in the early days in Chennai. Considering the heavy rainfall, infrastructure should have been improved accordingly. The construction of rain water canal in Chennai is still going on.
The condition of our capital city is so pathetic.Chennai and some of the other cities of Tamilnadu really facing their life as mentioned in one of the old Tamil cine songs
ஆசையே அலை போலே நாமெலாம் அதன் மேலே
ஓடம்போலே ஆடிடுவோமே வாழ்நாளெல்லாம்”.
I wish to indicate the same problem in other places also.In Mangudi, near Kumbakonam, Thanjavur district, people were badly affected due to rainwater entering their houses. As the water did not flow. The government authorities have not taken any action to drain the rainwater.
People are sheltering inside their houses instead of coming out.For the third day the houses have been inundated by rainwater near Edamalaipatti ,Pudur, Trichy.
Mayiladuthurai district is receiving unprecedented heavy rains. Sirkazhi has turned into a small island that looks like a flooded area in all directions.
Minister Shekar Babu said that 95% of storm water drain work has been completed in Chennai corporation areas.He underlined that in view of implementation of upgrading and improvement of storm water drain work. He also added that there was no water stagnation in flooding prone localities.
The ruling party also stated that they have spent 4000 crores for water drain work.But the canal is built on one side and the water goes on the other side.
Tamil Nadu BJP Treasurer SR Sekhar stirred controversy by claiming that the state capital has turned into a swimming pool.people in Chennai are suffering because of the stagnant water from the roads entering their houses. This is the scenario every time during heavy rainfall in Chennai.DMK and ADMK have been ruling tamilnadu nearly 50 years but no development could be seen.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.ordered
in the rain-affected Sirkazhi and Tarangambadi taluks, family cardholders will get Rs. 1,000 relief.He is unaware of the fact that it will not sufficient for their life.He also inspected the flood affected areas but he neglected to inspect the capital city.
In the water floating cities in Tamilnadu,the normal life of the public has not only been completely paralyzed but also the livelihood has been affected.
My question is why is Chennai floating even spending crores and cross to build a rainwater canal? Storm water canals are not laid as planned .It is necessary to change the infrastructure according to time if the government does not pay special attention to this it will be inevitable that Chennai will be flooded.
People welfare scheme should be carried out service oriented not revenue oriented. Rulers have the responsibility of protecting their people because they are for the people only.
