GD Naidu (Gopalsamy Duraisamy Naidu), the greatest scientist and great inventor hailed as ‘Edison of India’ was born on March 23, 1893 in Kalangal village, Coimbatore district.
Although he did not study much, he acquired many books and developed his knowledge.
At the age of 18, he imported painkillers manufactured in America and sold them here. It was also profitable.
A two-wheeler (bike) is designed so that one person can sit on the side.
Started a cotton mill in Tirupur. Through this, he became a great businessman.
Engaged in transport business and ran bus service between Pollachi and Palani.
Started Universal Motor Service. He continued to create Bus departure timer, ticket dispenser, engine vibration detector, juicer, shaver blade and many other products.
His razor, blade won 1st and 3rd prizes at an exhibition in Germany.
GD Naidu, who was born in an ordinary village and achieved many achievements, passed away at the age of 80 (1974).
