Krishnagiri: Ex-servicemen and BJP have demanded Rs 1 crore compensation and government job for the family of the soldier killed near Krishnagiri.
Mathayan hails from Velampatti MGR town of Bochampally circle in Krishnagiri district. His sons are Prabhakaran (31). Lord (28). Both are soldiers.
In this case, there was a dispute between the family of Matayan and the family of DMK Councilor Chinnaswamy of the 1st Ward of Nagarasambatti Municipality regarding the washing of clothes near the public drinking tank onĀ 8th February.That evening at 6 p.m Chinnaswami and his sons along with Gurusuryamurthy(27), Gunanidhi(19), Rajapandian(30) and others went and attacked Prabhakaran and his family with a knife, rolling pin and iron wire.
Prabhu suffered a head injury. The people there rescued the injured and admitted them to the hospital. Nagarashampatti police registered cases against both sides on the complaint filed by both sides regarding this conflict. In this case, the injured Prabhu succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The case was subsequently converted into a murder case.
Following this, the police arrested 9 people including DMK councilor Chinnaswamy, his sons Gurusuryamurthy, who works as a constable in the Chennai Armed Forces, Gunanidhi, a private college student, Pulipandi (24), a private school teacher, and relatives, car driver Rajapandi, Manikandan (32), Mathayan (60), Vediyappan (55), KaliappanĀ (40). The deceased Prabhu’s body was cremated in Velampatti day and night yesterday.
Prabhu, a soldier, was working in Srinagar. He was undergoing training in Bangalore for promotion. He was murdered while coming to hometown on a month’s vacation. Prabhu has a wife Punita, a daughter Nagasree (4) and a 4 month old baby Janusree.
Meanwhile, BJP members and ex-servicemen’s association met Prabhu’s family in Velampatti yesterday and expressed their condolences. Yesterday, a demonstration was held on behalf of BJP in Velampatti to condemn this murder.
Former state MP and BJP spokesperson Narasimhan said there is no security for army personnel under the DMK regime. He said that the government should give a job to the army man’s wife.
Ex-servicemen’s association says, “Rs. 1 crore relief should be given to the family of the victim soldier. The noble’s wife should be given a government job. “It is painful that the soldier does not have security in his hometown,” he said
