Born on April 4, 1912 in Poontamalli, Chennai. Studied BA in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai. In 1981, when the Tamil University was started in Thanjavur, he took charge as the first Head of the Department of Rare Manuscripts and served for 5 years.

Worked as a researcher at the Institute of Sanskrit and Indian Languages ​​for three and a half years. He then undertook comparative studies of multilingual grammar.

He was also famous as an orator of Saivism. A scholar in rituals. Most of his studies were on that. He studied grammar, literature, calligraphy, history, Telugu, Sanskrit and English.

He was the first principal of Tiruppanandal Kasivasi Swaminatha Swamikal Senthamilkh College and served for more than 30 years. He has written lyrics and English translation for 500 songs in Sivanarul Thirattu.

He has produced many Tamil scholars. He has created more than 20 rare books including Literary Keni, stone inscriptions, political leaders of the Chola era, study ark, Neethar Lipadu, Thirukkural Samana text. He researched and published the history of Tanjore Maratha kings along with the social history of that time. In 1949, he wrote a note to the wonderful Thiruvanthadi written by Karaikal Ammaiyar.

Uncompromising, strict management skills, honesty, virtue, piety, helpfulness and gratitude were all good qualities. Many of his books have been nationalized. He received various titles including Sivana rul Selvar, Inscription Researcher, Senthamizh  Kalanidhi, Tamil Mamani. K.M.Venkataramaiah, who was a Tamil philanthropist till the end, passed away at the age of 83 (1994).
