Cuddalore: The Hindu Religious Charitable Department has recovered a multi-crore temple site at Panruti, which was in private possession for a long time.

A vehicle stand rental station was operating on about 2 acres of land worth several crores behind the Panruti Bus Stand. The Gurulakshmi Foundation had leased it to Ganapathi for 40 years. After Ganapati’s death his heirs managed the place on lease. They sublet the space to some other person.

Meanwhile, the Hindu Religious Charities Department issued a notice to vacate the premises due to non-payment of rent and due to the expiry of the rental period. On receipt of the notice, the tenants filed a case in the High Court. The High Court directed the matter to be settled in the Court of Hindu Religious Charity.

Following this, the case was taken up in the court of the Joint Commissioner of Hindu Charities at Villupuram. In this, Hindu Charities Department Joint Commissioner Sivakumar ordered to vacate the place within 12 days and hand it over to Hindu Charities Department.

According to the court order, the vehicles like buses, trucks, cars, two-wheelers etc. parked on the temple land were removed and the place was sealed by the authorities. Ganapati’s heirs, who had rented the place after hearing this information, came there with more than 100 people. After showing them the proper order, the officers sealed it and left it.
