Rajagopal hails from Mullikarumpur in Trichy district. He arranged for a deed to sell his land in Thiruchenthurai village of Anthanalluar Union.

A shock awaited Rajagopal when he went to register the deeds at the Trichy 3rd Joint Registrar’s office. They sent back that the land mentioned for deed registration belongs to the Waqf Board, so the deed registration cannot be done.

When Rajagopal and the document writer inquired about this at the office of the joint registrar, they did not get the correct information. When we inquired about the matter in the informed circles, it was sent from the Waqf Board office to the Registrar’s Offices all over Tamil Nadu on 18th of last month. In that way, a letter of more than 250 pages has been sent to 12 registrar offices in Trichy district. Thousands of survey numbers in it. Specifically, they are lands belonging to the Waqf Board. It has been said that they should not be registered.

It was mentioned in the letter that the entire village of Tiruchenthurai under the Andanallur Union belongs to the Wakpu Board. When Rajagopal went to the deed register to sell the land in this village, he was sent back. Rajagopal’s name is mentioned in the encumbrancecertificate. Rajagopal’s name also appears in the A register of the revenue department.

However, the refusal to register the deed citing the Waqf Board’s letter has caused unrest among the people of the area.

ParantakaChola, thegrand father of Raja RajaChola, who built the Tanjore Great Temple many centuries ago, ruled the rich Chola country withWoriyur(Trichy) as his capital. There were forests on both banks (north and south) of Cauvery. Days before the full moon, it is customary for ministers and soldiers to go to the forest to catch thieves. At this place there was a forest of jackfruit trees. The thieves were not there when they arrived. But the deer stayed in droves. Kings used to hunt as a pastime. While hunting the deer while they were running away, a deer ran and hid in a big wooden log. An arrow shot at a deer misses the mark and hits a jack-tree, and instead of the milk of the jack-tree, red water oozes out.

Then an asariri (divine voice) sounded above. Lord Shiva in the Swayambu form was under that tree and ordered ParantakaChola I to build a temple there. Deer is mystical. After putting down the bow and arrow, thinking that they have come to kill Lord Shiva, they prostrated themselves and went to the palace and recorded the event on a copper plate. A plaque stating that a temple should be built on the Trichy Karur side road, 13 stones away from the palace, is still preserved by the government in ThanjavurSaraswatiMahal for public viewing. No matter how hard the king tried, he did not get the fortune of seeing Shiva with his eyes or the privilege of building a temple. Due to the lack of hills in the area he ruled, he could not build a stone temple.

KundavaiNachiyar, who succeeded him, sent ministers out to the western directionMusiri, Thottiyam, from the mountains in the Namakkal area, got permission fromthe Chalukya king who rulled  the area. The black stone rocks were moved here by elephants along with the prisoners there.

Archaeologists say that in 617 days, temples for Shiva and Shakti were built, Kudamuzku was held and land of about 400 acres was recorded in the temple wall inscriptions.

Thirujnanasambandar was kindly prayed to and composed ten songs, but we have got only two songs. Eight songs are missing because termites have eroded the footprints.

Also Sekkizhar sung about this temple in his Periyapuranam.

Shekizhar was a Sivanadiyar who lived in the 12th century. He was the chief minister in the court of KulothungaChola II.
