ஒருநாள் காசி விஸ்வநாதர் வறியவன் வேடம் பூண்டு காசியில் நகர் வலம் வந்தார். செல்வந்தர்கள் வசிக்கும் பகுதியில் பசிக்கு உணவு கேட்டார். எல்லாக் கதவுகளும் மூடப்பட்டன. பின் நடுத்தர மக்கள் வசிக்கும் இடங்களில் வீடு வீடாக ஏறி இறங்கினார். யாரும் பிச்சை போடவில்லை.
மாலை 7 மணி ஆகிவிட்டது. உணவு கிடைக்கவில்லை. பசியோடு காசியின் கழிவு நீர் கங்கையில் கலக்கும் இடத்திற்கு வந்தார். அங்கே தனியாக ஒரு தொழுநோயாளி அமர்ந்திருப்பதைக் கண்டார். அவரைச் சுற்றி நான்கு நாய்கள். காலை முதல் மாலை வரை எடுக்கும் பிச்சையை இங்கே கொண்டு வந்து 5 பங்காக பிரிப்பார். முதல் 4 பங்கு உணவுகளை நான்கு நாய்களுக்கும் மிச்சமுள்ள ஒரு பங்கை இவரும் சாப்பிடுவார்.
அங்கு வந்த இறைவன் அவரிடம் சென்று எனக்குப் பசிக்கிறது என்று கை நீட்டினார். தொழுநோயாளி அவர்வாடிய முகத்தை கண்டு தன் பங்கு உணவை அவருக்கு நீட்டினார். இறைவன் அதிர்ந்துவிட்டார். நான் யார் தெரியுமா என்று தொழுநோயாளியிடம் கேட்டார். யாராக இருந்தால் என்ன?….முதலில் சாப்பிடு என்றான். மீண்டும் இறைவன் அதட்டலாகக் கேட்டார். நான் யார் தெரியுமா?
தொழுநோயாளி அமைதியாக சொன்னார்…….இறைவன் வாயடைத்துப் போய் விட்டார். இந்தத் தொழுநோயாளியின் அசுத்தமான உணவை என் அழுகிப்போன கைகளால் கொடுப்பதை பெற்றுக் கொள்வது காசி விஸ்வநாதரை தவிர வேறு யாராக இருக்க முடியும்? என்று சிரித்தார்.
எல்லா உயிருள்ளும் உயிராக இருக்கும் இறைவனுக்கு எந்த உயிர்களுக்குள்ளும் வேறுபாடு பார்க்கத் தெரியாது என்பதை அவர் தெளிவாக உணர்ந்து அழகாகச் சொன்னார்…இறைவன் மெய்மறந்து நின்று விட்டார்.
