அமெரிக்காவின் போயிங் நிறுவனத்திடமிருந்து 8பி போர் விமானங்களை 2013ல் கொள்முதல் செய்தது மத்திய அரசு. இந்தப் போர் விமானங்கள் நீா்மூழ்கிக் கப்பலைத் தாக்கி அழிக்கும் திறன் கொண்டவை, பேரிடா் மீட்புப் பணியிலும் இவை சிறப்பாக செயல்படக் கூடியது.

பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கையின் தேவையையடுத்து, கூடுதலாக 4 போர் விமானங்களை வாங்க கடந்த 2016ல் ஒப்பந்தம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. இதனையடுத்து 9வது பி-8ஐ போர் விமானம் கடந்த ஆண்டு நவம்பரில் வந்தது. தற்போது 10-வது போர் விமானம் பாரதம் வந்தடைந்தது.
